Fabio graduated from the National University of Rosario (UNR), Argentina with the Diploma in Piano Performance and the National Professoriate of Music. At the UNR he studied with Prof. Nelly Gabús and Prof. Ana María Cué. Next, in the United States, he earned his Master of Music (MM) at California State University Fullerton (CSUF) under Dr. Susan Svrček. Additionally, he has participated in seminars and master classes with prominent musicians, to name a few: Aldo Antognazzi, Ralph Votapek, Menahem Pressler, Dorothy Taubman and Yo Yo Ma.
Recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, both in Argentina and in the United States, Fabio Banegas iowon the 1st prize at the Mozarteum Santa Fe in Argentina and obtained the Amigos del Arte of Rosario Award, the Fullerton Music Award and the Redfield Award of the Orange County Philharmonic Society. Most recently, he also received a grant from the Czech Republic for his recitals featuring only Czech composers.
Fabio Banegas has performed for prestigious cultural institutions in Argentina, the United States, Denmark and the for the Czech Republic diplomatic seats in the US, such us: Pro Cultura Musical and Teatro El Circulo of Rosario, Argentina; the Municipal Theater of Santa Fe, Argentina; and in the US: the Schubert Club of Saint Paul, Minnesota; the Music Festival of Williamstown, Massachusetts; the Winifred Smith Concert Hall of the University of California Irvine (UCI), California; the Museum of Latin American Art of Long Beach (MoLAA), California; and the Brown Auditorium in Houston, Texas among others.
As a soloist he appeared with the Fullerton Symphony Orchestra and the Claremont Symphony and he collaborated in chamber music recitals with soprano Alicia Caruso, violinist William Fitzpatrick and classical guitarist Victor Pellegrini.
Fabio mastered the complete piano repertoire by José Antonio Bottiroli (1920-1990) and given the world-premiere of several of Bottiroli's works. Likewise, he has interpreted unknown works by the Argentinean composer Nicolás Alfredo Alessio (1919-1985) and the most important works for piano, chamber music and piano and orchestra by Belgium-French composer César Franck (1822-1890). Fabio recorded numerous live concerts and his CD The Czechs, Piano Works through the Centuries was launched by the label Louis Ferdinand Productions.
A unique area of his career has been his appearances in Hollywood films productions as a pianist for commercials and films produced for the German, the American and the Korean markets.
Adding to his music career, Fabio Banegas Jiřiček earned a degree in journalism from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA-Extension). He has been a staff writer for the Eastern Group Publication of Los Angeles, a TV anchor and reporter for Spanish media and a researcher for the Investigative Unit of NBC Channel 4 Los Angeles. He is a passionate Argentinean and Latin American art collector and he currently serves on the board of Building Bridges Art Exchange (BBAX). His first piano teacher was Ms. Nora Irene Rasori and he was the only student of José Antonio Bottiroli.
